9to9 Girls: meet Andrea, Sales Director of the THIEF and Co-Founder of HER Oslo
Meet Andrea Belck-Olsen, Sales Director of the The THIEF, one of the Nordics’ most prestigious hotels and co-founder of HER Oslo, the global woman community celebrating women with authenticity and true support, gathering founders, creators & change makers cross industries. Andrea and I finally met last year after few months of back and forth on Insta DM - when our respective travel schedules finally aligned. Andrea invited me over for a lush breakfast, and we immediately started sharing our life stories, aspirations, struggles and passions. I was hoping to interview her for 9to9 Girls, and she invited me to become part of HER. Clearly our vision for women empowerment clicked. She is the ultimate boss girl. When she isn’t growing the THIEF from the inside, she is travelling the world, learning and meeting travel experts (her Insta account is GOLD!). She also leads passionately the HER chapter in Oslo, and is present to support and celebrate other women successes. I was so touched by her unmovable support with the launch of ReCollections Candles. Steadfast, true to her word, kind, beyond smart - she is a true inspiration. Beauty in and out - you will love her interview! Meet the boss with a big heart.
Where can we find you on Instagram?
At 9to9, we love side hustles and entrepreneurs. Tell us a little bit about yours.
I am very lucky to be employed in a company that encourages female empowerment. Our owner (Petter Stordalen) constantly speaks up about the importance of equality at the workplace, and encourages other companies to hire more female leaders. I find it very inspiring and encouraging as I spend most of my freetime growing the HER community in Oslo. HER Oslo (part of HER Global Network) is a “side hustle” that I was very fortunate to bring to Oslo 1,5 years ago. Today we are a forceful team with a mission to create a safe space for women everywhere.
What is the thing you love most about yourself?
I am extremely stubborn. It might be annoying to some, but it has taught me to stand my ground. My dad once said that if there is something I just don't want to do, not even 10 wild horses will be able to force me.
What holds you back in life?
Insecurities and self doubt. I hate that I have them, but we all do don’t we?
What advice would you give your 23 year old self?
Trust yourself. You are smarter than you think!
‘My life is successful because...’
I have the support of my family and friends.
What is always in your bag from 9 to 9?
I carry around a lot of stuff. You will most likely find keys, lip balms, lip gloss, lipsticks (yes plural - can you sense an obsession?) iPhone charger, make up, my Macbook, doTeRRA essential oils, hand lotion, gum, and probably a lot of snacks in my bag at all times.
What did you dream to become growing up?
For many years I wanted to be an airline pilot. I wanted to fly around the world.
What is women empowerment to you?
Trust, vulnerability, and confidence.
Name 3 women who have marked your life and why.
I can name so many, but at the moment I can name 3 of my HERoes:
My mother. Always and forever my superhero. My favorite memories of her includes when I was able to join her for work back when we lived in Peru. It definitely marked my life seeing someone saving lives the way she did.
Torill Seter Braathe. A strong and unafraid powerwoman I have had the pleasure of knowing for many years. She has always been my “work cheerleader”, and is the reason why I am employed at THE THIEF today. Once upon a time she threw me into a terrifying, yet empowering situation that I came out of stronger than ever.
Noni Nene. one of my dearest friends who I sadly don’t see much as we live worlds apart. She taught me that you can do whatever you put you mind to, just be confident in yourself. Nobody does it better than her. I mean nobody!
How do you create your personal chamber?
This is extremely important to me. I am very introvert and need my personal space. Ever since I was young I have needed to be alone a lot. I turn my phone to “flight mode”, put on a great podcast, and just enjoy some me time. I spend a lot of time thinking and clearing my head.
What is your self-care routine?
I always wash and moisturize my face both day and night. I also splurge on facials once or twice a month (I can highly recommend THIEF SPA and Elite Helse in Oslo). At home I diffuse essential oils for a calming effect.
What is on your bucket list? Name 2 items.
I want to do the Inca Trail, and thinking I want to do it with a group of inspiring people. I might actually put this plan to life pretty soon. Ping me if you are in!
I would love to to a TED talk!
