The best beauty products to pack this summer
Packing for summer vacations can be tricky. We want the comfort and reliability of our usual beauty routine (no one realllyyy wants to experiment widly and end up with pimples and dried out skin); and yet it feels like there is no better time to incorporate the hit and exotic skincare products of the summer. And of course there is this space and 100ml bummer to keep in mind. Hmm.
As our vacations start tomorrow, at 9to9daily we are in the same boat! So after some research and a field trip shopping last weekend, we put together a list of our best 2018 summer beauty products to pack. This include travel make-up tips, travel-size favourites and what to buy in French pharmacies.
So here is the essential beauty products list for your summer:
#1 Sensitive facial cleansing wipes
Simple Cleansing Facial wipes
These are incredible. They have the softest fibres and remove make up and impurities thoroughly without ever giving you a sting, or red skin or that thick oily finish that other brands can often leave on. Simple is known to never use any artificial perfume or colour and no harsh chemicals; making them my favourite go-to holiday partner! Plus they are cheap and can literally be found anywhere.
#2 A gentle cleansing gel
Face the Truth Gel Cleanser
During summer holidays, our face is constantly exposed to the sun, the sea, pollution and other aggressive external factors. So when it comes to cleansing, we really want to be as gentle as possible and avoid stripping out any more water and moisture. I just got this little number as a trial, and so far so great. It cleanses through-and-throughout, yet leaves the skin fresh and hydrated.
#3 A gentle exfoliating toner
Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic
In Norway you can get Pixi from the H&M beauty aisle (in Scandinavia, H&Ms are a whole different ball game. Think CVS, Boots, or Monop´combined and better!). If you live in the UK or elsewhere Cult Beauty or Sephora also carry it. It has become a little bit of a legendary product. It does what it says on the tin, it smells great and feels lovely. Its trick is that it works as a gentle and soothing exfoliating toner, removing dead skin cells (like a traditional peel would) to reveal glowy-healthy skin. Best tip: it comes in travel size!
#4 An anti-ageing Vitamin C face serum
The Truth Serum
It smells great, feels great and DOES leave your skin brighter. Quite refreshing when products actually do what they are meant to achieve. Must buy again!
#5 A light moisturizer
Express The Truth Moisturizer
For a holiday you really want a winning formula: something that is light, that is fresh, almost gel-like, and that is full of water and vitamins. You want a cream that works for day and night routines, so you only have to pack one. And we got the best moisturizer for this summer.
#6 A reparative shampoo
Kerastase Resistance Bain Force Architecte Shampoo
This is literally the best thing for your hair. Comes in a mini format too, so you can take it in your carry-on, and it won´t cost you an arm. Its formula is designed to strengthen hair and to prevent further breakage. Really perfect for your sea and salt weakened and damaged hair.
#7 A leave-in conditioner
Klorane Color Enhancing Leave-In Cream with Pomegranate
This one is a winner and should be on your list of things to buy in French pharmacies. It contains a concentrated UV filter which is essential if you spend a lot of time at the beach. The cream is free of parabens and silicones, and is ideal if you have colour-treated hair. Summer is great to let your hair be, and take a break from all the drying and styling of our work days. One of my favourite things to do when on vacation is to wash my hair after the beach, apply this Klorane cream on my ends and bangs -(yes I recently got French bangs!) and let my hair dry naturally. It gets curlier than usual and feels ticker and healthier and is gorged with moisture and summery fragrance. Try it!
#8 A multi-purpose beauty oil
Nuxe Huile prodigieuse Or
Another one of the great French pharmacy beauty products is this Nuxe Huile. We have spoken about here, and we simply cannot get enough of its multipurpose formula. It is a great summer make-up and a fantastic body and hair treatment after a fabulous day spent in salty water.
#9 A tinted lip balm
Replenishing Pomegranate Lip Balm Tube
Being in and out of the sea ten times a day, and sweating all around, holidays are really not the time and place for heavy make-up. Mascara is a no no, and foundation is just a terrible idea on vacation (hello clogs and pimples). So really, the only make-up you should carry is a tinted lip balm to give you moisture and a nice glossy finish. With your natural tan, all you need really, is a tiny bit on the Nuxe oil on your cheekbones to add a glow, and you are gold! Literally.
Please let us know what you are planning on packing, of if you have tried anything we might love!!
